Abstract

This study aims to examine the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in improving student achievement at SMP Islam Baqiatus Shalihat Nahdlatul Wathan Montong Tangi, Sakra Timur, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Teacher professionalism is a vital aspect of the educational process, as it directly influences the quality of learning and student academic performance. This research employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of PAI teachers, the school principal, and students. The results revealed that PAI teachers demonstrated strong professional competence, evidenced by mastery of subject matter, application of diverse teaching methods, and integration of Islamic character values into the learning process. Additionally, teachers acted as role models and moral guides for the students. Student performance improved both cognitively and spiritually. Supporting factors included a religious school environment, parental involvement, and supportive school leadership.
