Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of academic supervision by the school principal in improving the quality of learning at SDIT Asy Syami'il, Tanjung Laut Village, South Bontang, during the 2024/2025 academic year. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students at SDIT Asy Syami'il. The findings indicate that academic supervision carried out by the principal plays a significant role in enhancing the quality of learning. The principal conducts both formal and informal supervision, which includes classroom observations, mentoring, and training to improve teachers' pedagogical competence. The positive impacts of academic supervision are reflected in increased teacher creativity, better classroom management, and the use of technology in teaching. However, there are challenges in implementing academic supervision, such as the principal’s limited time and issues with some teachers’ use of technology. Overall, academic supervision proves to be effective in improving the quality of learning, but efforts need to be made to address existing challenges for more optimal results.
