Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the strategies implemented by the school principal to develop teachers’ professional competencies in order to improve the quality of learning at SD Negeri Lubang Buaya 02, Setu District, Bekasi Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, where data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the principal applies several key strategies, including training and workshops for teachers, mentoring and coaching, and regular performance evaluations. These strategies run continuously and positively impact the improvement of teachers’ ability to carry out more effective and innovative teaching. However, there are several obstacles such as limited time, facilities, and teacher motivation affecting the implementation of these strategies. The principal also plays a vital role in fostering a school culture that supports teacher competency development through good communication, teacher collaboration, and providing rewards. This study concludes that the professional competency development strategies implemented by the principal significantly contribute to enhancing the quality of learning at the school. Therefore, adequate policy support and facilities are highly needed to optimize the implementation of these strategies.
