Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the role of Aqidah Akhlaq teachers in shaping students’ character at MTS Sabilul Hasanah Purwosari, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The background of this research lies in the importance of moral education in forming students’ character amid the increasingly complex challenges of the digital era. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that Aqidah Akhlaq teachers play a crucial role as educators, mentors, and role models in the process of moral development. Teachers not only deliver theoretical material but also integrate moral values into the learning process while providing guidance through exemplary conduct and personal approaches. The strategies implemented include strengthening religious values, habituating Islamic behavior, and collaborating with school stakeholders and parents. Supporting factors include the religious school environment and strong leadership support, while the main obstacles are external environmental influences and limited parental supervision. In conclusion, the role of Aqidah Akhlaq teachers is highly strategic in fostering students’ morality and requires collaboration among all parties to achieve optimal outcomes.
