PERAN GURU PAI DALAM DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER PESERTA DIDIK SMK NEGERI 1 LEMPUING JAYA OGAN KOMERING ILIR SUMATERA SELATAN DENGAN SMK BUDI UTOMO OGAN KOMERING ILIR SUMATERA SELATAN TAHUN PELAJARAN 2024/2025

Abstrak

This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students' character at SMK Negeri 1 Lempuing Jaya and SMK Budi Utomo, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, Academic Year 2024/2025. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that PAI teachers play a vital role as educators, mentors, and role models in the process of character development.  They integrate values such as honesty, responsibility, discipline, and religiosity into both classroom learning and extracurricular activities. At SMK Budi Utomo, character education is implemented more systematically through religious programs and student mentoring, whereas at SMK Negeri 1 Lempuing Jaya, character development is still individual and lacks structured planning. Challenges faced by PAI teachers include limited instructional time, students' social environment, and inadequate supporting facilities. This research recommends enhancing the competence of PAI teachers and strengthening the synergy between schools, families, and communities to ensure a more effective and sustainable character formation process.
