Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of contextual learning in Aqidah Akhlak and its effect on students’ learning motivation at SMA Negeri. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study consist of teachers and students of grades X and XI, while the objects of the study are the contextual learning process of Aqidah Akhlak and students’ learning motivation.

The results indicate that the implementation of contextual learning has several positive effects. First, it increases student engagement in the learning process. Second, it deepens students’ understanding of Aqidah and Akhlak concepts. Third, it develops students’ critical thinking skills. Fourth, it enhances the interrelation between learning materials, and fifth, it encourages the application of Islamic values in students’ daily lives. Contextual-based evaluation also provides a more accurate picture of students’ comprehension and ability to apply the learned material.

In conclusion, Aqidah Akhlak learning using a contextual approach has proven effective in enhancing learning motivation, concept comprehension, critical thinking skills, and the application of Islamic values in daily life. Therefore, the contextual approach can be adopted as a key strategy in Islamic education that is relevant to students’ experiences and real-life contexts.
