UPAYA PENINGKATAN MUTU SEKOLAH MELALUI ETOS KERJA KEPALA SEKOLAH DI SD NEGERI

Abstract

The work ethic of a school principal is an important factor in the integration and success of an educational institution, whether in the public or private sector. This study aims to analyze and describe the work ethic of the principal of SD Negeri and its impact on school quality. The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach with a focus on fieldwork, and the research subject is the principal of SD Negeri. Data were collected through documentation, interviews, and observation to obtain a comprehensive understanding of daily work practices.

Data analysis was conducted through several stages, including data reduction, data presentation, conclusion extrapolation, and verification to ensure the validity of the information. The results indicate that the principal of SD Negeri possesses a high work ethic, reflected in discipline, responsibility, and commitment to improving educational quality. The principal’s strong work ethic has a direct influence on enhancing the school’s image and promoting both academic and organizational progress.

Furthermore, the study found that the improvement of teachers’ and the principal’s work ethic is interrelated and inseparable, as harmonious collaboration between them is key to educational success. Discipline and professionalism are primary components that strengthen work ethic, ultimately positively affecting the quality of teaching and school management. This research emphasizes that leadership based on work ethic is a strategic factor in sustainably enhancing school quality.
