Principal, Quality of Teaching and Learning ActivitiesAbstract
To improve the quality of education in schools, the role of the principal in efforts to enhance the quality of education and teaching-learning activities is very important, as the principal functions as a leader, supervisor, and educator. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The results indicate that the quality of human resources (HR) in the junior high school is fairly good, but still requires further development. This is due to low discipline among teachers and staff, as well as mismatches in subject assignments, where some teachers still teach subjects outside their areas of expertise. Efforts to improve the quality of teachers’ HR are carried out through the principal’s collaboration with educational institutions and bureaucratic bodies, as well as teachers’ participation in subject-matter deliberations. To enhance staff productivity, the junior high school implements direct guidance and supervision by the principal, which includes direction, assessment, and administrative management of attendance.
