This study aims to analyze the implementation of active learning methods in Islamic Religious Education subjects to improve students’ learning motivation. Active learning is a learning approach that places students as active participants in the learning process so that they not only receive material passively but are directly involved through discussions, question-and-answer sessions, group work, problem-solving, and various other learning activities. In Islamic Religious Education learning, the application of active learning is expected to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere and increase students’ learning motivation. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Religious Education teachers and students at the secondary school level. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to obtain an overview of the implementation of active learning methods in Islamic Religious Education learning. The results showed that the implementation of active learning methods had a positive effect on students’ learning motivation. Students became more active in participating in learning activities, more confident in asking questions and expressing opinions, and more enthusiastic in completing learning tasks. Islamic Religious Education teachers used various active learning strategies such as group discussions, role-playing, problem-solving, presentations, and interactive question-and-answer sessions to increase student involvement in learning. In addition, the learning atmosphere became more interesting and less monotonous, making it easier for students to understand the material presented. However, several obstacles were found in the implementation of active learning, such as limited learning time, differences in students’ abilities, and lack of supporting learning media and facilities. Therefore, teacher creativity and adequate learning facilities are needed so that the implementation of active learning can run optimally.
