PEMANFAATAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE DALAM PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM: PELUANG, TANTANGAN, DAN IMPLIKASI ETIS DI ERA DIGITAL

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning, focusing on its opportunities, challenges, and ethical implications in the digital era. The study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from various scientific sources, including national and international journal articles, books, conference proceedings, and other academic documents relevant to the research topic published within the last five years. Data collection was conducted through a systematic literature review, while data analysis utilized content analysis techniques consisting of identification, reduction, categorization, interpretation, and data synthesis. The findings reveal that AI offers significant opportunities to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education through personalized learning, the development of interactive learning media, more effective assessment processes, and the enhancement of students’ digital literacy. However, the implementation of AI also faces several challenges, including limited digital competencies among teachers, unequal access to technology, students’ dependency on AI-based tools, and concerns regarding the validity of religious information generated by AI systems. Furthermore, the use of AI raises ethical issues such as plagiarism, declining academic integrity, and concerns related to privacy and data security. The study concludes that AI has substantial potential to support the transformation of Islamic Religious Education learning when implemented wisely, appropriately, and in accordance with Islamic ethical values. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy, establishing ethical guidelines for AI utilization, and reinforcing the role of teachers as moral and spiritual mentors are essential to ensure the effective and ethical integration of AI in Islamic education.
