Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Islamic story media in developing early childhood literacy skills. Literacy ability in early childhood is an important foundation for future academic success, while the integration of Islamic values in learning provides a holistic spiritual dimension. This study used a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest control group design involving 60 children aged 4-6 years at Al-Falah Integrated Islamic Kindergarten, Bandar Lampung, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The experimental group (n=30) received treatment using image and audio-based Islamic story media, while the control group (n=30) used conventional media. The research instrument was a literacy ability test covering four aspects: phonemic awareness, vocabulary recognition, narrative comprehension, and reading motivation. The results of the t-test analysis showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (t=8.42; p<0.01), with the mean gain score of the experimental group (M=24.6; SD=3.8) significantly higher than the control group (M=11.2; SD=4.1). These findings indicate that Islamic story media is effective in improving early childhood literacy skills while instilling moral and religious values.
