Abstract

Numeracy skills are one of the fundamental competencies required to address various problems encountered in daily life. This study aims to analyze students' numeracy skills in solving contextual problems related to everyday activities. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 30 sunior high school students as research participants. Data were collected through numeracy tests based on real-life contexts and in-depth interviews with selected students representing high, moderate, and low ability categories. The findings revealed that students with high numeracy skills were able to understand information, select appropriate strategies, perform accurate calculations, and interpret results according to the context of the problem. Students with moderate numeracy skills were able to complete calculations correctly but still experienced difficulties in interpreting information and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, students with low numeracy skills encountered challenges in understanding problems, determining appropriate mathematical operations, and connecting mathematical concepts to real-life situations. These findings indicate the need for more contextualized learning approaches to enhance students' numeracy skills.
