Abstract

The background of this research is the practice of carrying out the traditional wedding ceremonies of the people of Lampung, Pepadun, with various problems in it. The people of Lampung Pepadun, in carrying out existing cultural traditions, do not require and are obliged to carry them out. One of them is carrying out the tradition of traditional wedding ceremonies. Some of the people of Lampung Pepadun are obedient to the customs that already exist and operate in that community. The research method used is a qualitative method and a type of field research. Data collection techniques used in this study were in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. While the data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification. The results of this study obtained two conclusions: First, the procession of the traditional wedding ceremony of the Lampung Pepadun community has a distinctive procedure. In traditional families, traditional wedding ceremonies are carried out according to hereditary traditions which consist of many sub-ceremonies, namely: Nindai/Nyubuk, Be Ulihulihan (ask), Bekado, Nunang (to apply), Nyirok (to tie), Manjeu (to negotiate ), Sesimburan (bathing), Betanges (steam bath), Berparas (shaving), Ceremony of marriage contract or Kabul consent. Second, according to Islamic law, the tradition of traditional wedding ceremonies for the people of Lampung Pepadun is permissible. However, something that is contrary to Islamic law in the traditional wedding ceremony tradition of the people of Lampung Pepadun must be abandoned. Then regarding the procedure for its implementation as a whole it is permissible because it does not conflict with the Al-Qur'an and Hadith.
