Abstract

This study aims to describe the development process of the eclectic curriculum model for Qur’an–Hadith instruction at MA Al-Azhar Center Baturaja and to analyze its implementation and challenges. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis as data collection techniques. Participants included the school principal, Qur’an–Hadith teachers, and selected students through purposive sampling. The findings indicate that the eclectic curriculum was developed by integrating textual approaches, constructivism, contextual learning, and competency-based frameworks. The implementation involved memorization, textual analysis, group discussions, case studies, and project-based learning, resulting in active student participation and deeper comprehension. The curriculum positively influenced students’ understanding, motivation, and critical thinking skills. However, challenges such as limited instructional time and the need for teacher training were identified. Overall, the eclectic curriculum model proved effective in enhancing the quality of Qur’an–Hadith learning in the madrasah.
