This research aims to develop a student worksheet (LKPD) based on multiple representation to improve students’ scientific representation skills in science learning at SMP Al-Ashriyah Roudlotus Sholihin, Gunung Ratu Village, Bandar Negeri Suoh Subdistrict, West Lampung Regency. The study is motivated by the low level of students’ understanding of abstract scientific concepts, which is often caused by the limited use of learning materials that support comprehensive scientific representations, including verbal, visual, symbolic, and mathematical forms.
This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Data were collected through interviews, needs-analysis questionnaires, expert validation (material and media), and a limited try-out involving seventh-grade students. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively to determine the feasibility of the developed LKPD and the improvement in students’ scientific representation abilities.
The results showed that the multiple-representation-based LKPD obtained a “highly feasible” category from both material and media experts, with an average feasibility score of 89%. The limited try-out also indicated a significant improvement in students’ scientific representation skills, including their ability to draw models, explain scientific phenomena, and use symbols or equations to solve problems. Therefore, the developed LKPD can serve as an effective instructional material to help students understand science concepts more comprehensively.
