UPAYA GURU DALAM MENGEMBANGKAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL (EQ) PESERTA DIDIK DI MADRASAH ALIYAH HIDAYATUL MUBTADIIN

Abstrak

This study aims to examine teachers' efforts in developing emotional intelligence (Emotional Quotient/EQ) of students at Madrasah Aliyah Hidayatul Mubtadiin. Emotional intelligence is an important aspect in the formation of students' character, which includes the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's own and others' emotions. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used in this study. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation of learning activities. The results of the study indicate that teachers have a central role in developing students' EQ, which is carried out through three main strategies: first, a personal approach such as counseling and empathetic communication; second, integration of EQ values ​​in the learning process, such as group work and discussions that encourage empathy and tolerance; and third, role models in the attitudes of teachers who are patient, open, and attentive. The obstacles faced include differences in students' emotional backgrounds, limited learning time, and lack of support from the outside school environment. Nevertheless, teachers continue to make consistent and collaborative efforts with parents to create an emotionally healthy and constructive learning atmosphere. This study recommends strengthening teacher training in the field of emotional education and developing a curriculum that is more integrated with EQ aspects.
