Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of teachers in fostering students’ religious behavior at SMK Negeri 2 Kalianda, South Lampung Regency, during the 2024/2025 academic year. The study is based on the importance of developing students’ religious character as an integral part of the national education goals. A qualitative method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research subjects included Islamic Education teachers, the school principal, and students. The findings indicate that teachers play a crucial role in nurturing students’ religious behavior. Teachers function as educators, mentors, and role models in students’ daily lives. The strategies implemented include contextual religious learning, religious activities such as congregational prayer, Qur’an recitation, and commemorations of Islamic holidays. Furthermore, teachers engage in personal approaches and maintain effective communication with students' parents. Challenges identified in the process include time constraints, environmental influences, and the low awareness of some students. Nonetheless, teachers and the school continue to address these challenges by improving worship facilities, increasing the frequency of religious activities, and reinforcing a religious culture within the school environment. This study recommends ongoing support from all stakeholders to ensure that religious development efforts are carried out optimally and sustainably.
