Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies implemented by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers to enhance the religious atmosphere at SMK Negeri 2 Pekanbaru. A conducive religious atmosphere in the school environment is an important factor in character building and the internalization of Islamic values in students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants consist of the school principal, PAI teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. The results found that strategies applied by PAI teachers include: (1) habituation of daily worship such as Dhuhr prayers in congregation and Quranic recitation; (2) integration of Islamic values in cross-subject learning processes; (3) organization of religious programs such as Islamic holidays and pesantren kilat (intensive Islamic boarding school); and (4) moral guidance through teacher role modeling and greeting culture. Supporting factors include the school principal's support and teacher commitment, while inhibiting factors include the heterogeneity of students' religious backgrounds and limited worship facilities. This study concludes that a comprehensive, holistic, and sustainable strategy is proven effective in enhancing the religious atmosphere at SMK Negeri 2 Pekanbaru
