PERAN STRATEGIS GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MEMBANGUN KARAKTER PESERTA DIDIK DI SMAS BUDI LUHUR BOARDING SCHOOL BATAM

Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in building the character of students at SMAS Budi Luhur Boarding School Batam. In character education, PAI teachers are not only responsible for teaching religious knowledge but also act as role models in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of students in accordance with Islamic teachings. Character development is carried out through a learning approach that integrates Islamic values into daily life, both in and outside the classroom. The research uses a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that PAI teachers play a very important role in shaping students' character, both through personal example, extracurricular activities, and value-based learning. However, challenges such as the influence of technology, time constraints, and the diversity of student backgrounds need to be addressed in the character-building process. This study provides recommendations to enhance support for PAI teachers to make them more effective in building students' character
