PERAN KETELADANAN GURU PAI DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER RELIGIUS SISWA SMP PGRI 1 KALIANDA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2024/2025

Abstrak

This study aims to examine the role of the exemplary behavior of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the formation of students' religious character at SMP PGRI 1 Kalianda for the 2024/2025 academic year. Religious character education plays a crucial role in shaping students' morals and ethics, especially in a school environment. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design, where data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study consisted of PAI teachers and students from grades VII, VIII, and IX who were actively involved in religious activities at the school. The findings indicate that the exemplary behavior of PAI teachers significantly influences the development of students' religious character. Teachers who set examples in worship, honesty, patience, and noble conduct are able to inspire students to emulate these behaviors. However, the study also identified some obstacles in the implementation of exemplarity, including inconsistency in the teachers' behavior and the influence of family and peer environments that are less supportive. Therefore, to enhance the effectiveness of exemplarity, it is recommended that schools provide training for teachers to strengthen their role as consistent role models and improve cooperation between teachers, parents, and the community in shaping students' religious character comprehensively
