This research aims to examine the professional competence of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in improving the quality of learning evaluation implementation at SD Negeri Mulyajaya III, Karawang Regency. Teachers’ professional competence plays a crucial role in the success of an objective, fair, and comprehensive evaluation process of students’ capabilities. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with IRE teachers and the principal, as well as document analysis. The findings show that IRE teachers have a basic understanding of learning evaluation and conduct evaluations regularly, primarily through written tests. However, their ability to design evaluation instruments that assess affective and psychomotor domains remains limited. The implementation of evaluation is also constrained by high workloads, limited time, and a lack of technological support. Nevertheless, school principal support and teachers’ motivation for continuous learning serve as strong supporting factors. This research concludes that enhancing teachers’ professional competence in evaluation is necessary through training, self-development, and adequate resource provision. Effective and comprehensive evaluation will facilitate optimal learning outcomes, particularly in shaping students’ character and religious values.
