PERAN GURU DALAM PEMBINAAN PRILAKU KEAGAMAAN PESERTA DIDIK DI MAS HAJIJAJH AMALIA SARI PADANGSIDIMPUAN
Abstrak
This study aims to describe and analyze the role of teachers in fostering students’ religious behavior at MAS Hajijah Amalia Sari Padangsidimpuan academic year. The background of this research is based on the reality that students, as the nation’s next generation, are not only required to possess academic knowledge but also strong religious behavior as a moral foundation in daily life. Teachers, especially in the pesantren environment, play an important role not only as instructors but also as mentors, role models, and supervisors of students’ religious conduct. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that teachers play a role in three main aspects: (1) guidance through teaching, by integrating religious values into subjects; (2) guidance through role modeling, where teachers embody Islamic morals and serve as figures to be imitated by students; and (3) guidance through supervision and habituation, such as conducting congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation, and other religious activities in the pesantren. The challenges faced include a lack of awareness among some students in maintaining worship discipline and teachers’ limited time to provide intensive guidance. Nevertheless, through a collaborative approach between teachers, pesantren caretakers, and parents, the process of fostering students’ religious behavior can run more effectively. The study concludes that teachers’ role is central in shaping students’ religious behavior. The implication is that the success of religious education in madrasah largely depends on the quality of teacher-student interaction and the exemplary conduct demonstrated by the teachers.
