PENERAPAN COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEFASIHAN BERBICARA SISWA EFL

Abstrak

Speaking instruction in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) often encounters challenges such as low fluency, language anxiety, and teacher-centered methods. To address these issues, the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach is considered effective because it emphasizes the use of language in real-life contexts and encourages learners to communicate actively. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of CLT in improving EFL learners’ speaking fluency through a literature review of studies published in the last seven years. The research employed a systematic literature review method involving identification, selection, analysis, and synthesis of empirical findings from national and international journals. The results indicate that CLT consistently enhances speaking fluency through communicative activities, authentic tasks, meaningful interaction, and collaborative learning environments; however, challenges such as limited teacher competence and inadequate learning facilities continue to hinder its implementation. In conclusion, CLT is a relevant and effective approach for improving EFL learners’ speaking fluency, particularly when supported by teacher training, technology integration, and performance-based assessment.
