This study aims to analyze the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling the values of religious moderation among students in the digital era at SMPN 1 Abung Pekurun, North Lampung, during the 2025/2026 academic period. This research is motivated by the rapid development of digital technology, which significantly influences students’ ways of thinking, behavior, and understanding of religious teachings. On one hand, digital development provides easy access to information; however, on the other hand, it may also lead to extreme, intolerant, and inappropriate religious understanding that contradicts national values. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects included Islamic Religious Education teachers, the principal, and students at SMPN 1 Abung Pekurun. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the strategies implemented by PAI teachers in instilling religious moderation values were carried out through dialogue-based learning, exemplary behavior, habituation of tolerance, wise use of digital media, and strengthening nationalism and moral values. Teachers also guided students in filtering religious information on social media to prevent them from being influenced by radical and intolerant ideologies. These strategies proved effective in improving students’ attitudes of tolerance, mutual respect, and moderate religious understanding. In conclusion, the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers is highly important in shaping students’ moderate character amid the increasingly complex challenges of digital technological development.
