PENERAPAN METODE BANDONGAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA KITAB KUNING DI PONDOK PESANTREN ASY-SYAFI'IYYAH

Abstrak

This study aimed to improve the ability of students to read kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) through the implementation of the bandongan method at Asy-Syafi’iyyah Islamic Boarding School. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using Kurt Lewin’s model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 10 students participating in kitab kuning learning activities. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation and analyzed descriptively using mean scores and learning mastery percentages. The findings revealed that the implementation of the bandongan method successfully improved students’ reading ability. In the pre-cycle stage, the average score was 62 with a learning mastery rate of 30%. After the implementation of the bandongan method in Cycle I, the average score increased to 71 with a mastery rate of 60%. In Cycle II, the average score further increased to 79 with a mastery rate of 80%. In addition, students’ learning activities and participation improved, as reflected in their increased attention, confidence in reading kitab kuning, and ability to answer the teacher’s questions. Therefore, the bandongan method proved effective in enhancing the kitab kuning reading ability of students at Asy-Syafi’iyyah Islamic Boarding School
