Abstract

Muslim society in the current era of globalization lives in an increasingly complex context of multiculturalism. The challenges of multiculturalism demand Islamic religious education to develop effective and appropriate strategies in responding to the dynamics and complexities of the development of a multicultural society. This article discusses the strategy of Islamic religious education in facing the challenges of multiculturalism in Muslim societies in the era of globalization. The approach used is a descriptive-analytical approach through literature studies. The results of the study show that the strategy of Islamic religious education in facing the challenges of multiculturalism consists of several aspects, namely: (1) understanding the characteristics of a multicultural society, (2) developing multicultural education, (3) developing character education based on Islamic values, (4) ) developing inclusive religious education, and (5) developing interfaith dialogue education. These strategies can help Islamic religious education to solve the challenges of multiculturalism and strengthen Islamic identity in the context of a multicultural society.
