Authorship Criteria

Journal of Integrated Natural Science (JINS) adheres strictly to the authorship standards defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure that all contributors receive proper credit and accountability.

1. The Four Core Authorship Criteria

An individual listed as an author must meet all four of the following conditions:

  • Substantial Contribution: Significant contributions to the conceptualization, experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation.
  • Manuscript Drafting or Revision: Drafting the intellectual content or critically revising it for crucial scientific insight.
  • Final Approval: Reviewing and providing explicit written consent on the final version prior to submission and publication.
  • Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the research, ensuring questions regarding accuracy or data integrity are addressed.

2. Non-Author Contributors (Acknowledgements)

Individuals who contributed technical assistance, language proofreading, laboratory supply provision, or general administrative oversight do not qualify for authorship. Their contributions must be formally recognized in an Acknowledgements section with their written permission.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author acts as the primary contact with the editorial office. Responsibilities include providing co-author consents, ensuring transparency of funding, declaring conflict of interests, and responding to post-publication inquiries.

4. Prohibition of Unethical Authorship Practices

JINS strictly prohibits: Ghost Authorship (omitting individuals who made significant scientific contributions), Guest/Gift Authorship (naming senior researchers or officials who did not contribute), and Coercive Authorship. Changes to the author list after submission require written confirmation from all authors.
